Originally living just north of Auckland, a job opportunity took me north to the Bay Of Islands where I lived for 10 years and discovered the joy of sea kayaking.
As a keen tramper the pull of the South Island and the mountains was always there, and in 2005 I moved to Kumara on the West Coast, relocating to Karamea in 2012.
Being close to the bush and sleeping within sound of the sea feeds my soul, as does tending the garden and labyrinth and playing music.
I currently live with 3 resident cats and frequent visiting guests, helpers and friends.
My initial training in UK was as a Speech Language Therapist and I worked for over 25 years with both adults and children in health and education with a particular interest in rehabilitation of acquired brain injury.
I also gained a masters degree in Audiology and worked with people with hearing difficulties.
In the late 1990’s I began training as a counsellor and was awarded my Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling in 2001 and my Diploma in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy in 2003.
I’ve now been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist for over 12 years in private practice, am a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of The New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists.
I am registered with ACC to work both Sensitive Claims and Physical Injury. I am also approved by the Family Court to work with issues relating to relationships and parenting.
Although my main focus is Counselling and Psychotherapy I am available for consultation regarding any communication difficulties.
I also offer intensive focus on improving accent for people who have English as a second language. (see Accents at Jesters Nest)
